Departures and Arrivals
Departures and Arrivals published by the Turkish Cypriot Community Association is a collection of interviews with first generation Turkish Cypriots who came to England as early as 1934. The interviews and photographs from old family albums give an insight into the social history of the Turkish Cypriot migrant community in England between 1934 and 1963. The publication presents an account of the integration of the first generation of Turkish Cypriots into their new home, through their own memories, and their own understanding and interpretation of their experiences during the period under examination. Their first sense of London, their view of themselves and their identity as members of a migrant community as well as their subsequent integration into British society, were significantly shaped by their earlier experiences in Cyprus.

Free copies of the publication can be obtained by contacting the Turkish Cypriot Community Association on (020) 8826 1080.
